It was a beautiful day on the first weekend of February for a drive to Howell. I was eager to be a part of this Michigan Notary Association event. I had an idea that I was going to get some hands-on experience doing a notarization. Although I’ve been a notary for several months, I’ve not had a chance to perform and actual notarization. I was unclear and apprehensive about the whole process. This was a chance to clear up some of that mystery.
It’s been a lot of fun to be a member of the Michigan Notary Association. I get to be a part of these great events like the most recent event in Howell, Michigan this past Saturday. It was nice to see the friends I’ve made since becoming a member, and it was nice to make new friends.
The thing that encourages me most about the Michigan Notary Association is that Leslie and Debbie, the founders, care about their members’ success. Part of the purpose for the Association is to help train and educate notaries in Michigan. At Saturday’s event we practiced marketing ourselves and our businesses. We learned about some of the different forms and documents we might encounter in our work. And for those of us who’ve had little or no experience using our stamps, such as myself, we got to practice doing a mock notarization.
The Michigan Notary Association is so much more than just a website where we have a profile of our members. It’s a team of notaries who all work together to help make our businesses grow. It feels good to be a part of that team.
